When a driver is intoxicated, there is no reason for them to be behind the wheel. When they decide to drive anyhow, they put themselves and others at risk.
For example, a crash in Huntington Beach involving a drunk driver recently left two people dead and another injured.
Intoxication led to an arrest after the crash
According to the report from Jan. 20, a man was arrested and booked on suspicion of drunk driving after he went over the center median and hit two other vehicles.
One driver, 71, died at the scene. Her passenger, a 45-year-old woman, had to be taken to OC Global Medical Center. She reportedly had moderate injuries. Another person, 19, was killed in the collision as well. He had been driving the second vehicle that was struck in the crash.
One drunk driver can cause multiple injuries or deaths
As you can see from the above news report, just one intoxicated driver can end up causing multi-vehicle collisions, leaving multiple families devastated due to their loved ones’ loss or injuries. It is unfair to them and to their families that the driver did not consider the laws and failed to do their part to keep them safe.
You have rights as a victim or the family of a victim who was killed
If you lose a loved one in a collision involving a drunk driver, it is important that you look into your options. Some families choose to pursue wrongful death claim so that they can seek compensation for their losses as well as the pain and suffering that their loved one endured. An attorney can help you learn more about your options.
